Bikes: 21 speed hybrid bike.  We recommend bringing your own helmet.

Meeting point: The tour starts in Vienna, Austria and finishes in Budapest, Hungary.

Vienna to Budapest  - Itinerary

Day One: Arrive in Vienna. Collect bicycle and overnight.

Day Two: Cycle through the Prater Gardens, vineyards and forests to Bruck. (32 miles)

Day Three: Neusiedler Lake to Fertod. Through scenic woodland to the picturesque town of Rust, a natural haven for storks and a producer of excellent wine. Sopron is the only Hungarian town with its original walls still in tact. (39miles)

Day Four: Sopron to Szeleste.Cycle toward the old Roman town of Fertorakos. In Fertod visit the Esterhazy Castle where the composer Joseph Haydn resided. THis evening relax at a thermal spa in  Szeleste. (46 miles).

Day Five: Szeleste to Magyarpolany. Today's route takes you through the estate of the noble Estehazy family. At the end of the day you can climb the hill to the beautiful baroque chapel and enjoy magnificent views.  (41 miles)

Day Six: 
Magyarpolany to Keszthely. After a bus transfer we cycle through sleepy little villages with the medieval castle of Sumeg along the way. The next stop is Heviz, a health resort boasting the largest thermal lake in Europe. (39 miles).

Day Seven: Keszthely.  Day of leisure for sightseeing, walking or cycling. Alternatively, a short cycle tour to the healing lake at Heviz, the largest natural thermal lake in Europe where you can bathe in the 30 degree waters..  

Day Eight:
Keszthely to Balatonboglar. Cycle along the south shore of Lake Balaton through pretty villages, past fields and vineyards. Continue to the wine-growing town of Buzsak and to t=oyr overnight stay at Balatonboglar.  (36 miles)

Day Nine: Balatonboglar to Budapest. Cycle along the lakeshore to meet the transfer bus which takes us to Budapest. After dinner in Budapest we have a guided walking tour of the old city.

Day Ten: Tour ends after breakfast
