| A
guided walking trail holiday in the Brecon Beacons following part of the
southern section of Tony Drake’s Cambrian Way is a great way to
traverse the highest, wildest and most scenic parts of South Wales. This
section starts at Abergavenny and ends at Llandovery. The whole route
lies within the Brecon Beacons National Park and our trail follows the
four distinct mountain ranges which have been fashioned by the passage
of glaciers in the past. There is a wide variety of wildlife including
the possibility of seeing red kite on the wing. We stay for a week in
Brecon and each day are transported by private minivan to start and end
the walks. Itinerary: GUIDED TRAIL WALK CHALLENGING 79 miles. 10-16 miles and up to 4,100ft of ascent in a day. Day 1 Arrival day. Day 2 Walk from Abergavenny over the shapely summit of Sugar Loaf to Capel-y-ffin. Day 3 A splendid panoramic ridge walk takes us the length of the Black Mountains to Crickhowell. Day 4 Around the Llangattock escarpment and the eastern fringes of the Brecon Beacons to Torpantau. Day 5 A great walk over the main Beacons summits of Craig-y-Fan-Ddu, Cribyn, Pen y Fan and Corn Du. Day 6 Cross the windswept Black Mountain to Llanddeusant. Day 7 Through rolling countryside and open moorland to Llandovery. Day 8 Departure day. Where we stay: Nythfa House is a charming Country House located on the edge of Brecon within easy reach of fine walking areas. In this quiet setting you can relax in the attractive gardens or the conservatory or make use of the indoor swimming pool. Friendly service and excellent meals, together with a boot and drying room, ensure that Nythfa House is tailored to the needs of outdoor enthusiasts. All meals are included. |
