guided walking trail holiday which explores some of the finest
landscapes and fascinating history of Northumberland. The route links
places associated with St Oswald, the King of Northumbria and one of the
most important rulers in Britain. He played a major part in bringing
Christianity to his people. You will find castles, coastline, islands,
scenic river valleys, attractive villages, forest and farmland as you
follow this long distance walking route. The trail can be walked as either the Complete Trail (7 nights) or divided into the Coastal Section (7 nights) and the Inland Section (7 nights). Itinerary: COMPLETE TRAIL GUIDED WALK 97 miles. 13½ to 19 miles and up to 1,075ft of ascent The complete route is a challenging but rewarding week Day 1 arrival day. Day 2 Holy Island to Bamburgh via Belford. Day 3 Along the coast to Dunstanburgh Castle and Craster. Day 4 Past Alnmouth to Warkworth. Day 5 Inland along the River Coquet to Rothbury. Day 6 Good views on the way to Kirkwhelpington. Day 7 Rolling countryside to Hadrian’s Wall and west to end at Heavenfield. Day 8 Departure day.
Itinerary: COASTAL SECTION GUIDED WALK Day 1 Arrival day. On all three versions of this walk we stay at one hotel for the week and each day are transported by private mini-van to start and end the walk. At night we return to Nether Grange in the seaside town of Alnmouth.
