From imposing chalk cliffs to peaceful river estuaries, the Isle of Wight
coast has a huge variety of coastal landscapes and moods. Heading in
a clockwise direction we'll absorb the ever-changing sea views as we
explore this much-loved island. We stay at one hotel for the week at
Freshwater Bay and each day travel by private coach to start and end the
walk. Itinerary: 7 nights - GUIDED TRAIL 68 miles. 8-13 miles and up to 1,000ft of ascent in a day Day 1: Arrival day. Day 2: Walk along the windswept south-west coast from Freshwater Bay to Blackgang Chine. Day 3: Around St Catherine’s Point and through the lush undercliff to Ventnor, Shanklin and Sandown. Day 4: Ascend the chalk cliffs of Culver Down and on past Bembridge to Ryde. Day 5: Walk to Wootton Bridge and after omitting the road section around the Osborne Estate, continue from Cowes to Gurnard Bay. Day 6: Around the marshy creeks of the Newtown River to Cranmore. Day 7: A grand finale as we follow the coast path to the Needles, then walk atop the chalk cliffs of Tennyson Down back to Freshwater Bay. Day 8: Departure day. |
