The stunning  valley of the 'River of Gold', the Rio Douro, with its fertile hills striped with green vines dropping down to the river below, offers a wonderful insight into the slow, traditional ways of rural Portugal.  The stunning countryside is a delight to explore on foot, by long boat and by steam train.

Prices are per person based on double occupancy without airfare.
Supplement for a single room 11 GBP per night. 

Included:  Accommodation with private bath, breakfast and dinner daily, guided walking programme.

Walking: Two levels of walking are offered each day.

  •    Easier  walks              5 -   6 miles.        up to 1250 ft of ascent over a day.
  •     Harder Level walks    6 -  11 miles        up to 1700 ft of ascent over a day.
HOTEL REGUA DOURO
In the heart of port wine country, the four-star Hotel Regua Douro clings to the river bank of the Douro, offering panoramic views from the balconies of each of its 77 en-suite rooms.  The hotel prides itself on serving excellent regional food, and the dining rooms and terraced bar all offer spectacular views along the river.  We will also visit the hotel's quinta in the hills above Regua to taste the local port and enjoy a delicious traditional supper.

 Breakfast and dinner are included.
