Located in southwest England, Dartmoor offers walking holidays based at a lovely hotel in the Dartmoor National Park near the village of Haytor. Terrain here rises to over 2000 feet above sea level and one has a stunning sense of solitude with often nothing more than Dartmoor ponies in sight. The countryside is studded with archaeological remains - walkers encounter burial mounds, stone circles and traces of early Bronze Age villages. Eastern Dartmoor by contrast has wooded valleys with cozy villages. The lovely South Devon coast has sandy beaches and clifftop paths.

Hotel: MOORLANDS is situated high on the moor below Haytor Rocks, one of Dartmoor's best-known landmarks.  It was this magnificent setting that inspired Agatha Christie to write her first book in 1917.  The 32 en-suite rooms look out over rolling Devon countryside and eight acres of grounds.  The lavish interiors of the public rooms are a reminder of previous ownership by a colourful local millionaire and today the property provides a grand base for country walking holidays. All meals are included.
