Snowdonia in Wales boasts some of the grandest mountain scenery in Britain. There is challenging walking to the tops of the lofty peaks while less demanding rambles go through forests and moorlands past lakes and waterfalls. We stay at Conwy, a beautifully preserved coastal town surrounded by its 21-towered medieval wall and guarded by a massive 13th century castle. More castles await at Harlech, Beaumaris and Caernarfon.
