The Yorkshire Dales are located in North-Central
England not far from the Scottish border. The rugged Yorkshire Dales National
Park is rich in wild-flowers and waterfalls and is excellent hiking country. We
stay at lovely Malhamdale for a week of exploring this fabled region... the home
of the Brontes and James Herriot. On our walks we visit the graceful ruins of Bolton Abbey; Studley Royal Estate and its water gardens.
There is much history in the region. Step back in time at East
Riddlesden Hall, built during the Civil War by a passionate Royalist, with its
dramatic history and panoply of ghosts. Yorkshire is steeped in history and
tradition with attractions like Skipton Castle, one of Britain’s
best-preserved medieval castles.
