Itinerary:

Day 1: To Marrakech - Arrive in Marrakech and transfer to our Riad accommodation for 2 nights.

Day 2: Marrakech - Our walking tour introduces us to the souks and stalls of this imperial city, and to the magical hub-bub of the Djemma el Fna. A free afternoon to relax or to explore a little further. Maybe visit one of the traditional hammams, take a tour of the tanneries, or visit the palace or the relaxing haven of the Majorelle gardens.

Day 3: The High Atlas - Travelling into the heart of the High Atlas, we have fantastic views towards the peak of Mgoun. We stay in a lovely Kasbah (4 nights), from where we explore the stunning Ait Bougamez “Happy Valley”.

Day 4: Tighrempt & Agouti - This morning we explore the World Heritage site of Tighrempt. Lunch gives us a chance for an insight into Berber life as we lunch with a local family, before continuing walks through the flower-strewn fields of Agouti as we return to our kasbah for the evening. These walks afford us fantastic views as far as the Sahara and the Mgoun massif, and give us an introduction to traditional village life.

Day 5: Ait Bougamez & Tabant - Our walks today continue to explore Ait Bougamez, and Tabant. A wooded walk takes us to the magnificent dinosaur footprints of Rbat, and a lovely picnic before we decend again to Imelghas.

Day 6: Ait Imi - Our final day in the valley, and the opportunity for walks giving fantastic views of the High Atlas. We follow the nomad route passing the village of Ait Imi and towards the pass of Tizi Ait Imi for panoramic vistas over the southern High Atlas, and out toward the Sahara.

Day 7: Cascades D’Ouzoud - After a leisurely start, we travel to the famous Cascades D’Ouzoud. Our walk today finishes at the waterfalls, after exploring the gorge and spotting its resident wild macaque monkeys (1 night).

Day 8: Demante hills - Today we discover the pomegranate and cactus-cloaked slopes of the Demante hills, before continuing our journey to Ourika (1 night).

Days 9-10: Bedouin camp - Leaving the Atlas we drive towards the Atlantic coast for 2 nights in a Bedouin style luxury camp. Our walks are accompanied by camels and “camelteers”, as we wind our way through coastal sand dunes and villages.

Day 11: Essaouria - This morning we continue to the white-washed walls and sandy beaches of the fishing town of Essaouria (2 nights), exploring Sidi Karouri in the afternoon, walking where sand dune meets sea.

Day 12: Essaouria free day - A free day to explore the alleyways and medina of this 18th century UNESCO town.

Day 13: Return to Marrakech (1 night) where we have the afternoon free, perhaps to visit the Majorelle gardens, the palace or the tanneries, or to do some souvenir shopping before a farewell dinner.

Day 14: Return flight home
