St Lucia - Island Paradise 

Join us on one of the most beautiful islands in the West Indies; lush forests, waterfalls, idyllic natural harbours and white sand beaches with an Anglo-French influence for good measure.

Guided Walks:  Walks are on marked paths with distances up to 9 miles on frequently undulating terrain; greatest ascent is 1,900 ft on day 12.

Hotels:  BAY GARDENS INN is a small, intimate hotel set in a tranquil garden-style atmosphere in the heart of Rodney Bay in the northwest of the island within easy reach of Reduit Beach.  All rooms feature a terrace or balcony and refrigerator; hotel facilities include a secluded pool, patio, cocktail bar and beauty salon.   Included: 14 nights' accommodation in twin-bedded, en-suite rooms.  Breakfast and Dinner from dinner on day 1 to breakfast on day 15 plus 3 lunches. Services of an experienced knowledgeable local guide, tour hostess and an HF Holidays' leader.  Walks, sightseeing, entrance fees and travel by air conditioned coach.
Itinerary:
 
Day 1:
Arrival and transfer to our hotel, the Bay Gardens Inn (14 nights) set in Rodney Bay.  

 

 

Day 2:
Spend a relaxing morning in the capital, Castries as we adjust to the balmy Caribbean weather taking in the lively market and Castries Cathedral, one of the oldest and most beautiful in the Caribbean.

Day 3:
Take a trail in the heart of the island from Millet past pineapple groves to the historic La Sikwi sugar mill.  The area is beautiful, cool and refreshing an we can listen to the call fo the many birds along the trail.

Day 4:  
Walk  the Descartier Trail, through lush indigenous rainforest with lovely plant life  including orchids, lianas and heliconias.  We visit the tranquil Fond D'Or herb garden and later dine at Stony Hill Villa, set in tropical gardens.

Days 5, 9, 11, 13
At leisure to relax and choose from a variety of island activities.

Day 6:
Discover the northeast of the island, with lovely sea views and a walk on the Grande Anse Trail, off the beaten track and home to the elusive iguana.

Day 7: Pigeon Island
We travel to Pigeon Island where a winding trail through the island's 17th and 18th century ruins leads us to the village of Gros Islet.

Day 8:
Explore the Grande Bois rainforest trail, to see abundant tropical birdlife including the elusive St Lucian parrot.  This evening visit the Friday night street party.

Day 10:
Head for the east coast and take a coastal track past sculptured rock cut platforms, stacks and arches with breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean. Visit the historical Gardens of Madam de Micoud, with its abundance of orchids, birds and butterflies.

Day 12:
A boat trip to Soufriere takes us to our morning walk to the En Bas Sault waterfalls.  This afternoon we take  our most strenuous walk on the iconic peak of Gros Piton.

Day 14:
A gentle walk through the Toussaint Estate with a visit to the creole heritage village of Fond Latisab.  Farewell  dinner at the seafront Coalpot Restaurant.
