Explore two capitals on a "bike and Boat" holiday which takes you along dykes of Holland and Belgium, past beautifully restored stately homes and into the heart of fortified towns. We stay on a Dutch barge on the canals and each day have a guided cycling tour on quiet roads and cycle paths with mostly flat terrain.

Included:  Seven nights accommodation in a  2 berth (bunk beds) cabin with shower/toilet, All meals, Bicycle hire, Guided cycling, guided city walks.

Meeting point: The tour starts in Amsterdam and ends in Brussels (alternate weeks it operates in reverse starting in Mechelen).

ITINERARY:
Day 1: Arrival in Amsterdam
Your guide will meet you and you have a chance to go for a short familiarisation cycle ride. There is also an optional canal trip, as your boat will remain in Amsterdam this evening. (9.5 miles)

Day 2: Amsterdam to Vianen
This morning the boat sets out from Amsterdam and takes you to Breukelen. From here you cycle via the Kasteel de Haar and the village of Montfoort to your day's destination in Vianen. (22 miles)

Day 3: Vianen to Hertogenbosch
The boats sails to Tiel from where you cycle along the dykes and through rich polderlands to reach the charming capital of the province of Noord-Brabant, s'Hertogenbosch. A visit to Saint John's Cathedral is highly recommended. (28 miles)

Day 4: Hertogenbosch to Willemstad
After sailing to Geertruidenberg, you cycle to Willemstad, one of the best-maintained fortress towns in Holland and worth some exploration. (25 miles)

Day 5: Willemstad to Antwerp
After breakfast you begin your day by cycling among the islands of Zeeland. When you reach Tholen, you rejoin the boat to sail across the Belgian border and into the city of Antwerp. This evening your guide will organise a beer-tasting and a walk around the city. (28 miles)

Day 6: Antwerp to Mechelen
This morning you are free to spend more time exploring Antwerp. From here you cycle to Mechelen and rejoin the barge.! (25 miles)

Day 7: Train to Brussels where we explore the highlights of the city. You may want to try out one of its culinary specialities, be that mussels and frites, waffles, or of course the famous Belgian chocolates.

Day 8: End of tour after breakfast
