 Slovenian Vineyards and Hot Springs
 

Explore the northeast corner of Slovenia with its abundance of vineyards and thermal
springs.

Cost per person:
 775 GBP (Great Britain pounds)  based on double. Single supplement 112 GBP

Duration: 7 nights

Tour profile: Moderate.   Daily distance 19 - 26 miles. A mixture of flat plains and undulating countryside. The tour follows side roads, gravel paths and grass tracks with some short stretches on main roads and some short climbs in the vineyard areas.

Included:  Seven nights accommodation (double occupancy) in comfortable 3 and 4 star country inns with private bath. Breakfast daily, Guided cycling, 21 gear cycle Hire,  Luggage transfer, English-speaking guide who follows the group in a back-up van meeting the guests at pre-arranged sports along the way, Wine Tasting, Entrance to swimming pools in Moravske Topice.

Meeting point: The tour starts in Maribor (transfer is available from Llublijana Airport at extra cost).

Slovenia  - Itinerary

Day One: Arrive in Maribor (Slovenia's second largest city). Collect bicycle and overnight.

Day Two: Follow the route of the Drava River as you cycle to Ptuj. Visit Ptuj Castle and explore the churches, museums and monasteries. (20 miles)

Day Three: Pass small villages and baroque castles as you cycle along the flat plains and undulating countryside. Your accommodation is at a country inn at Jeruzalem - set among vineyards with stunning views and the opportunity for wine-tasting. (26 miles)

Day Four: Cycle through rolling countryside to Moravske Topice, stopping to visit the  floating mill of Verzej and a pottery workshop. In the evening relax in the hotel's thermal springs. (28 or 31 miles)

Day Five: A relaxing day with the option to remain at the hotel or to take an easy cycle ride to the Hungarian border. (19 miles)

Day Six: 
Start the day with leisurely flat cycling and on through gently rolling landscapes to your country inn at Lenart. Today's route involves crossing the River Mura on an old fashioned float. (26 miles)

Day Seven: Cycle back through rolling vineyards, past rural villages and along the Drava River back to Marlbor to spend your final night (23 miles)

Day Eight:
Tour ends after breakfast.
