Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrival
in Salzburg. Explore the city’s wonderful baroque
architecture.
Day 2: Start
with a relaxing ride alongside the River Salzach through
the centre of Salzburg. Take a short detour to the
famous Hellbrunn Castle before continuing to Golling.
From here transfer by bus to the Gosau Valley where you
will spend the night (28 or 38 miles).
Day 3: Cycle
to Steeg and take a train along the shore of Lake
Hallstattersee to Bad Aussee. Continue by bicycle to
Obertraun where you can visit the unique World Heritage
Dachstein Ice Caves and later the historical village of
Hallstatt. Spend the night in Bad Aussee (9 miles).
Day 4: Cycle
to the pretty town of St Wolfgang where you will have
plenty of time to explore or enjoy a swim in the crystal
clear waters of the lake (35 miles).
Day 5: Take
the boat to St. Gilgen and cycle along Lake Wolfgang to
Strobl and Bad Ischl. Stop here to visit the Imperial
Villa or relax with coffee and cake at the famous Zauner
cafe. Then follow the River Traun to Lake Traunsee (27
miles).
Day 6: Today
you will cycle to Lake Attersee, the largest lake in the
region and very popular for swimming. Spend the night in
Attersee or Attergau (34 miles).
Day 7: Pass
Lake Mondsee and then cycle along the former track of
the Ischlerbahn railway as you make your way back to
Salzburg (42 miles).
Day 8: Departure
day.
