Terrain: Mainly flat terrain along quiet roads and scenic cycle paths. There are sections of hilly terrain on Day 2.

Itinerary: 

Day 1: Transfer by taxi to your accommodation at Capian or Rions in the Entre-deux-mers wine-growing region.

Day 2: Cycle to the medieval town of Sant-Macaire through undulating vineyard terrain. Explore the castle at Cadillac, home-town of the writer François Muriac. (22 miles)

Day 3: Follow quiet roads through the vineyards of Sauternes, passing the renowned Château Yquem. Enter the flatlands of the Landes de Gascogne Regional National Park and spend the night in the village of Origne. (33 miles)

Day 4: Enjoy the changing landscape as you cycle through the park’s dense forest. Stop for lunch at the lakes of Hosten and continue to the village of Le Barp for your overnight stop. (20 miles)

Day 5: Travel through Le Teich ornithological park leading to the Bay of Arcachon. Join the coastal path, stopping to climb Europe’s highest sand-dune before continuing to Arcachon for a two-night stay. (28 or 34 miles)

Day 6:  Take the ferry across the Bay of Arcachon to Cap Ferret or explore the cycle paths to the port of Biganos, the ornithological park and Domaine de Certe in Audenge.

Day 7:  Departure day or extend your stay in Arcachon.
