Cooking at Hostellerie Bérard, Provence,
France
Hostellerie Bérard is a lovely, small hotel
built into a restored 11th century monastery located in
the heart of the charming old hill-top Provençal village
of Cadière dAzur. From the hotel are
magnificent views over the vineyards of Bandol. This is a
famous wine region located about forty miles east of
Marseilles and ten miles north of the coast.
Danièle and René Bérard
and their daughter Sandra own and manage their inn
personally and they excel in the art of warm hospitality.
The Hostellerie Bérard has an atmosphere worthy of the
best hotels in the Provence-Côte-dAzur region. As
well as operating the hotel the Berard family also give
cooking courses at their nearby farm. The farm
("mas" in Provencal language) has a beautiful
country kitchen ideal for classes of up to eight
students. The cooking is country cooking
- using recipes which are typical of the region and the
very best of ingredients which are carefully selected at
the markets. It is relaxed and friendly with exceptional
standards of cuisine. Rene Berard is a "Maitre Cuisiner de France"
(Master chef).
