Hotel Information

WHERE WE STAY IN SIENA - Michelangelo would have approved of the Grand Hotel Continental. This aristocratic mansion was built by the great Baroque architect Giovanni Fontana in the 17th century as the superb Gori Palace. It boasts an awe-inspiring combination of Italian style elegance with magnificent art and frescoes adorning the walls. The 51 rooms are unique, large and luxurious and all offer the comforts of a top level hotel including marble bathrooms and high-tech entertainment system. In 2003 the rooms were painstakingly restored and furnished with elegant antique or contemporary furniture, precious fabrics and unique décor. This five-star hotel is located in the heart of Siena, in the pedestrian shopping area within easy walking distance of the Piazza del Campo, the Duomo and all Siena's major sites. http://www.royaldemeure.com/en/grand_hotel_continental/storia.htm

WHERE WE STAY IN FLORENCE-  The elegant 4-star Grand Hotel Baglioni has a long history. It dates back to the second half of the 1800s when Prince Carrega di Lucedio built an imposing mansion which over the main door had the crest depicting a leopard on a red and gold background of the Carrega-Bertolini family, which still can be seen above the door today. In 1903 Palazzo Carrega opened as the Grand Hotel Baglioni.  In August1944 the hotel was occupied by partisans of the Arno Division who were trying to oust the last snipers left in the city by shooting from the hotel’s terrace, while a room on the ground floor was set up as a special courtroom.  The German raids and the allied destruction left only the Hotel Baglioni’s walls standing but, after years of intense restoration, on 1st June 1946 the Hotel Baglioni once again opened its doors to welcome guests. It is located in the heart of old Florence a short walk from important tourist attractions.

Today, the recently renovated and decorated rooms are comfortable and elegant. The restaurant, and in summer the magnificent roof garden,  have splendid views over the city of Florence views which constantly change throughout the day. Elegant rooms have Individually- controlled air conditioning, LCD TV, minibar, safe, bath and shower,  hair dryer, slippers and amenities.   http://www.hotelbaglioni.it/eng/hotel.htm

WHERE WE STAY IN ROME - The 4-star Hotel Savoy is an elegant Umberto I style palazzo on via Veneto very close to the most famous monuments in the centre of Rome - Trevi Fountain and Spanish Steps.  The hotel was built in 1886 as a luxurious upper class accommodation and its name is a tribute to Queen Margaret of Savoy.
Rooms are equipped with satellite TV, mini bar,  hair dryer, safe deposit box, air conditioning and internet wi-fi connection.  http://www.savoy.it/en
