Treasures of Tuscany
March 31 - April 8, 2009     Sept 29 - Oct 7, 2009

We invite you to join us exploring the very best of Tuscany. This is the land of Medici princes and famous artists, of great wines, wonderful food and balmy climate. The landscape is a tapestry of rich colours, vineyards dripping in purple, cobalt sky and palazzos that turn to gold in the evening sun.

The old walled city of Siena where we stay is one of the most perfectly preserved medieval towns in Italy. Its narrow cobbled streets lead from piazza to piazza and burst into the amazing bowl of the Campo with its fourteenth century Palazzo Pubblico. The city is full of art treasures and pleasures for the eye.

On this tour we stay in one place and take daily excursions by private bus. Our exquisite hotel is located  in the town of Siena and from here it is not far to travel to see the great treasures of Central Italy. Our explorations include bustling Florence including a visit to the Uffizzi Gallery with an expert guide and Assisi, with its great religious heritage. In contrast, we spend leisurely days traveling the back roads to villages where one hears the splash of a thousand-year-old fountain or the strains of a Puccini opera wafting from a small trattoria.

It is worth the trip just to experience the Hotel Grand Continental in Siena - a 17th century palace that has been recently restored to its former glory and is now one of the great hotels of Italy.

Extra days in Rome or Venice can be added at the beginning or end of the tour.
