Location: Occupying an
enviable position on Madeira's southeast
of the Atlantic Ocean. The
quiet town of Canico de Baixo has
many hotels, a seafront promenade,
shops and cafes.
Near the hotel is a bus-stop from which guests can take a 20 minute bus-ride into the island's main town of Funchal.
Facilities: Guests have free use of hotel's fitness club. Fitness classes and yoga classes are available (small charge). The Wellness Centre has an indoor pool, saunas and Jacuzzi. There is also an outdoor pool plus a seawater pool. Bicycles are available to rent.
The resort has three restaurants
including a casual pizzeria. Breakfast and
dinner are included.
Buffet breakfasts include a variety of breads, jams, spreads, yogurt, cheese, muesli, cereals, soft-boiled eggs, freshly cooked scrambled or fried eggs, omelettes and fresh fruit salad. Breakfast can be taken in the spacious Ondamar Restaurant or (weather permitting) can be enjoyed outdoors.
Dinners are lavish buffets. The hotel takes pride in its fresh, locally sourced produce and offers daily meat, fish and vegetarian selections plus a variety of salads. Desserts include many scrumptious local specialties. To keep the restaurant uncrowded, reservations will be necessary for dinners.
In the evenings the hotel often has entertainment - perhaps a fado singer or a folklore show.
